Tracing the Influence of a Teacher, a Program, a Movement and
a Place
Panelists include: Artists Robert Brady, Christopher Brown and
Fred Snyder.
Figurative
artists Robert Brady, Christopher Brown and Fred Snyder are among
Manuel Neri's long roster of students during his tenure at UC Davis
from 1965-1990. While each of these artists have distinctive careers
in their own right, they will reflect on their common influences.

12, 2009 Lewis deSoto in conversation with Anthony Torres
Lewis
deSoto's conceptual artwork utilizes a wide range of media including
automobiles, inflatables, electronics, photography, wood and metal
constructions. Many of his installations, sculptures and wall works
investigate the intersections between history, myth, language and
space. In conjunction with his solo exhibition, deSoto will discuss
the exhibition in the context of his larger body of work.

Show-and-tell with Artist Jonn Herschend
Join
us for a presentation of video work selected by artist, curator
and experimental publisher Jonn Herschend. After the viewing, Herschend
will engage in a conversation about deadpan, humor and video work.
Jonn
Herschend is an interdisciplinary artist preoccupied with how
emotional confusion, absurdity and veracity play out in the realm
of the everyday. His performances, video work, photos and paintings
have been exhibited both nationally and internationally. He is
the co-founder and co-editor of the experimental publication,
"THE THING."

Curators, art dealers, teachers and artists will provide
15-minute individual critiques of artists' portfolios. Each artist
will have two critiques.
Please note - The portfolio reviews take place at the ICA on Thursday evenings from 7-9 PM. One summer portfolio review session is available per interested artist. These are closed sessions and pre-registration is required.
